Hi everyone, I realized that many of you are due for a Holliday break. I will be taking a two week break also.
This is a bit of history for Atlanta, Georgia.
The nickname for Georgia is the Peach State. The State vegetable is the Vidalia Onion.
What do Martin Luther King, Jr., Jimmy Carter, and Ty Cobb have in common? All were born in Georgia. Georgia is the largest state in the South. When the Europeans arrived in the mid 1500's, the Creek, Cherokee, and Yamacraw Indians were living in the area.
In 1733, James Oglethorpe from England and a group of poor settlers arrived. They built Georgia's first town--Savannah. During the Civil War, many battles were fought in Georgia.
If you love to eat peanuts or peanut butter, you are probably eating peanuts grown in Georgia.
George Washington Carver developed more than 300 products from the peanut plant.
The trembling earth is in the Okefenokee Swamp. This is a Seminole Indian word which means "trembling earth." The swamp is made of floating islands, which shake if you walk on them.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year everyone!
