Prayer Across America Rally Held in Pierre
Jewish shofar used to initiate call to prayer
By Linda Schauer, State Director :
Pierre, South Dakota became the site for Prayer Across America’s 36th state capitol prayer rally tour. Approximately 20 prayer warriors from around the state gathered on the capitol steps June 2 to pray for our state and nation.
Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord. (Psalm 33:12)
Starting on September 11, 2004 in Springfield, Illinois, Rev. Phil Epperson and his wife, Vicki, began their tour of prayer to lift up the United States to God and to stir up a spirit of prayer across the nation. Each week on Thursday at 1:00 p.m., they hold a prayer rally at a state capitol. Prayer Across America will conclude at the U.S. Capitol on September 11, 2005.
In Pierre, prayers were offered in thanksgiving to God for His many blessings on our nation, repentance for our sins, prayer for revival and awaking of the Church, wisdom for our leaders and protection and guidance for our military. In Jewish tradition, the shofar was blown as a call to prayer and repentance. In this age of moral decline and societal departure from biblical values, prayer is vital for the survival of our republic.
If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. (II Chronicles 7:14)
The Prayer Across America team will travel to St. Paul, Minnesota for a June 9 rally. You can read more about Prayer Across America at :
