Hi everyone! We have competition this Thursday in Little Rock, AK. Former President Bill Clinton, along with 30,000 others will be in Little Rock, to dedicate his new Library.
Arkansas was the name that early French explorers made up for the Quapaw Indians and the river they lived on. It means "downriver people."
Little Rock, a big city was named for a little rock land-mark in the Arkansas River.
I trust you enjoy the pictures of the Capitol building. It is a beautiful structure. They had many problems trying to get it built starting in 1899 until 1915. It is made of Vermont marble, on the floors and walls. The columns from Colorado, and the grand staircases from Alabama. The exterior from Batesville, Arkansas, the dome from softer Indiana limestone.
